Gameweek 12 Potential Power Players

The game of the week is an unexpected one, with Manchester City vs Newcastle Utd, this could be a potentially very interesting game for the neutral viewer. But you have come here today in search of fantasy tips and that is what we shall give you.

Robin Van Persie:

Who else but the flying Dutchmen himself? This lad is on fire 8 league goals in 4 games, expect more against a Norwich side who haven't kept a clean sheet all season. He was rested for Netherlands against Germany in their international fixture so expect him to be fresh for the upcoming game against Norwich.

Luis Suarez:

He scored 4 goals for Uruguay in their international friendly this week against Chile in their 4-0 win. The partnership with Cavanni in Uruguay's midfield was arguably what made the goals, but maybe he can link up with Steven Gerrard as well as he did with Cavanni? Playing Chelsea away will be an interesting fixture, the Reds won at Stanford Bridge last year but can they do it again? These are the types of games that can define 4th place or 5th place.

Edin Dzeko:

The Bosnian striker was on the end of a hiding in his European Qualifiers this week getting thumped 6-2 by Portugal, however this striker is one who knows how to put the ball in the back of the net, scoring one goal every 58 minutes he is on the field. It will be interesting to see if he can crack a stubborn Newcastle defense.

Rafael Van der Vaart:

Having scored 2 goals in each of these fixtures last season it wouldn't be a surprise if he scores again. Aston Villa have yet to win a game away from home in the Premier League this season, and with Tottenham's recent good run of form it could be a walk in the park. Van der Vaart should start even with his 75% chance of playing due to a hamstring injury, that he picked up against Sweden last week. Manager Harry Redknapp may be back after his minor heart surgery 3 weeks ago, and will be hoping his Dutch ace is fit enough to play.

Good luck for gameweek 12!

Surprise, Surprise! - The Most Unexpected Things In Fantasy EPL This Season

Today we have a special post for you all to enjoy, about the most unexpected and weird happenings of the 2011/12 Fantasy season so far.

It really has been a season of ups and downs, of haves and have-nots, and surely we will see more of the same in the next 26 matches or so.

Let's kickoff:

1). Swansea's Durable and Defiant Defense

Most clean sheets in the competition. Two players in the top 10 on total points for Defenders. Surprisingly enough, the new boys from Wales have shown themselves to be a solid and unwavering defensive line, and also being able to hold out the bigger clubs. Goalkeeper Michel Vorm, Dutch back-up, has been THE best Goalkeeper on Total Points, and has been a rock for the Swansea team. We can all say, that we didn't see this coming. What surprises me also, is how so few Fantasy managers have Swansea defenders in their selected squads. Time for a dash of Welsh in your defensive unit...? I think so...

2). Carlos Tevez' "Rage Quit" on City

He has been one of the best Fantasy Forwards of the last two seasons. He was notorious for scoring goals, and plenty of them. He was supposed to continue that form into this year, at a hefty Fantasy price of 11.7m. But instead...he RAGED. He quit out on the club that had treated him so well, and he has a BEASTLY 2 points this season...2! Don't be surprised to see him leave the club and even the league come January. This was NOT EXPECTED.

3). Adel Taa-who?

If there was/is a Fantasy League Championship...then last season Adel Taarabt of QPR would have been the KING of Fantasy Football (behind Messi whose stats are godly) in the world. He was a goal and assist threat every match for every minute he played. He was a prospect to lead QPR to a fight high up the Premier League. He was even scouted by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Napoli. Now...what the heck HAPPENED?!?! Many Fantasy managers (maybe after my "Championship Players To Watch" blogpost back before the season) went to Taarabt early on, as they thought he could carry that superb form he displayed last season into the EPL. We were all wrong. He has been hopeless. No goals, no assists. In any League games. Wow.

Gameweek 11 - The Potential Power Players

Gameweek 10 is not to far away now, and with plenty of points scored last gameweek, hopefully it's a similar affair this gameweek. Last weeks Potential Power Players was extremely accurate and hopefully we can do the same this gameweek.

Lets Kick-off:

Robin Van Persie - Arsenal

Everybody knows that this guy is in the form of his life having now scored 28 goals in 27 league appearances this calendar year. He has scored 53% of Arsenal's league goals this season and many fantasy managers are expected a lot more. Several fantasy managers have sold off Rooney in choice of in form Van Persie, Rooney's price is now 12.1 down from 12.4, and on the other hand Van Perise has moved from 11.9 up to 12.4 as many fantasy managers look to ship in the star forward. Against a struggling West Brom side expect the classy Dutchman to cash in.

Potential Power Points : 10/10

Demba Ba - Newcastle

After an inspiring hat-trick last gameweek away to Stoke, scoring all of Newcastle's goals that match he is certainly another Premier League striker who is in top form. Although he is an inconsistent points scorer you certainly want this powerhouse in your team, especially when he comes along and nets a hat-trick. Expect him to shine against Everton but with a difficult few fixtures coming up. In fact more than difficult they have Everton, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea coming up. He is still unproven against teams at the top of the ladder and it will be touch and go to see if he performs. However he could still score big playing Everton at home.

Potential Power Points : 8/10

Other Potential Power Players to Consider are:

Luis Suarez - Liverpool - This lad is always a goal threat, playing Swansea at Anfield, you can expect him to get amongst the points, with either a goal or assist.

Mario Balotelli? - Manchester City - This guy has burnt down this multi-million pound house and has removed his garden in favour of a track for his quad bike, in the last 2 weeks. And this guy is in form, he didn't start last gameweek but scored midweek in Manchester City's Champions League fixture. Playing QPR away from home will be an interesting fixture for Mancini's men.

Javier Hernandez - Manchester United - The Mexican forward has been hungry for goals as he looks to retain his starting position for Man Utd over Berbatov and Welbeck. We expect him to start as the out and out starter with Rooney tucked in behind him. He scored last gameweek and it wouldn't be a surprise if he scored again this week.
